Ben Watson costretto ad interrompere la stagione per un intervento chirurgico
Purtroppo il nostro pilota Ben Watson è costretto a fermarsi e non sarà al via del GP di Lettonia a Kegums, poiché dovrà sottoporsi ad un intervento chirurgico al ginocchio destro, a causa di un infortunio provocato da una caduta nel GP di Galizia. Al momento sta decidendo con il suo chirurgo di fiducia la data dell’intervento.
Ben Watson: “È davvero una brutta notizia… mi dispiace. In una caduta nel GP di Lugo ho subito una distorsione al ginocchio destro, ma non si era evidenziato subito un infortunio. Ho corso gli ultimi due GP (Francia e Germania) ma il ginocchio continuava a darmi problemi, sentivo dolore e non mi permetteva di allenarmi. Ulteriori indagini mediche hanno rilevato la lesione del legamento crociato anteriore e di un menisco. Continuando ad allenarmi o correre posso solo peggiorare la situazione e con i medici si è optato per l’intervento chirurgico, che stiamo programmando quanto prima, al momento non abbiamo ancora una data. È probabile però che i tempi di recupero non mi permetteranno di rientrare al Mondiale in questa stagione”.
Elio Marchetti (Team Manager MRT Racing Team Beta): “Era evidente che le difficoltà di Ben negli ultimi GP erano dovute alle conseguenze dell’incidente di Lugo, e purtroppo adesso è diventato chiaro che la lesione richiede un intervento chirurgico. Siamo vicini a Ben, lo ringraziamo per quanto fatto finora, e quello che conta adesso è che torni in forma nel migliore dei modi”.

Ben Watson is forced to stop his racing season due to a surgery
Unfortunately, our Beta rider Ben Watson has to stop and will not be at the start of the GP of Latvia in Kegums, as he has to undergo surgery on his right knee, as a result of an injury caused by a crash in the GP of Galicia. He is currently discussing with his surgeon on the date of the operation.
Ben Watson: “It’s a really bad news… I’m sorry. In a crash in the Lugo GP I suffered a sprain to my right knee, but it didn’t show up as an injuryright away. I raced the last two GPs (France and Germany) but my knee kept giving me problems, I was in pain and it didn’t allow me to train. Further medical investigations revealed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament and a meniscus. Keeping up with training or racing would only make the things worse and with the doctors we have decided on surgery, which we are planning for as soon as possible, at the moment we don’t have the date yet. It is likely that the recovery time will not allow me to return to the World Championship this season”.
Elio Marchetti (Team Manager MRT Racing Team Beta): “It was obvious that Ben’s troubles over the last few GPs were related to the consequences of the crash in Lugo, and unfortunately it has now turned out that the injury requires an operation. We are next to Ben, we thank him for what he has done so far, and what is important now is that he can get back in shape”.
